Kenya Maritime Authority is ISO 9001:2008 certified
Kenya Maritime Authority has yet again created a distinctive mark by achieving the prestigious ISO 9001-2007- Quality Management Certificate, which covers all the processes in the Authority.

The ISO Certification comes as a result of fulfilling all the required prerequisites within an integrated program carried out in a period of 24 months and is approved by the Bureau VERITAS Kenya

This achievement is in line with KMA’s strategy which aims at implementing the principles and prerequisites of the Quality Management System in all the departments across the Authority so as to continuously improve the administrative system and management style using the latest international applications in accordance with the approved quality standards.

The Authority achieved this certificate by conducting orientation and specialized training courses that involved documentation of work procedures for all the departments as well as adhering to conducting internal audit programs throughout the two years, in addition to changing the style of management and workers' performance within the Authority so as to cope up with the principles of quality and continuous improvement. It also involved paying more attention to the needs of our stakeholders in a detailed manner and to continue in providing the best services.

Management considers that achieving this international certificate as the first step in introducing the culture of quality within KMA’s rank and file, and it was also considered the optimal method towards making comprehensive and integrated change in fulfilling the ever changing needs of the customers.
